Volunteer Opportunities

ReStore Volunteers

Habitat ReStores sell donated gently used merchandise to raise money to buy building materials.

Volunteers help customers, price goods, operate the cash register, and help each store looking its best. Put your customer service, merchandising, decorating skills or construction knoweldge to use!

No retail experience is necessary -- volunteers are trained and supervised by our staff.

To volunteer at a ReStore, contact:

  • Jane Ann Wells (Lexington location) by email or by phone at (540) 464-4663 or

  • Forrest Wheelock (Buena Vista location) by email or by phone at (540) 261-5042

RAHfH Policy on Proselytizing

Volunteers are partners in our work to eliminate poverty housing in our community. You provide labor, which helps us keep costs down — and hopes up.

Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity welcomes volunteers, supporters and homebuyers from all backgrounds. Anyone who believes that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live is welcome to partner with us regardless of race, religion, age, gender or political views.

As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
